Service Portal Announcements - User restriction & templates
We would like to allow designated users to post announcements on their specific Service Portals. We currently have several Service Portals set up for different departments, i.e. HR, Finance, IT, etc. I realize that there is only one role to allow this access, which is the Announcement_Manager role, but I thought we could manage this by creating templates for each area that they would use when creating an announcement that would be specific to their portal. Unless I'm missing the setting when I create the template, I don't have an option to set the specific portal.
1. How do others manage the users for posting to separate departmental portals?
2. Is there an option in the Announcement template that allows the setting of a specific Portal?
Thank you!

Hi,I was seeking some answers myself and then came across your post.
We can segregate the announcements basis different user properties like site, department, location etc.
If you have the Service Portal- User criteria plugin installed, add the following related list on the announcement form.
In the Can view and cannot view sections add the user criteria records basis which you want to segregate.
Ensure your announcement record isnt marked as public, user criteria wont be enforced in that case.
To segregate portal records have you tried adding the specific portal to this related list on announcement record:

Thank you very much for your answer! It is very useful, but after I add can view and can't view to the related list, they can't be displayed in the announcement form, do you know why?
Thanks!

Thank you for the detailed information @Shaily. So you know if this change you're suggesting would prohibit them from accessing other portals as well? I ended up submitting my case to support and this is the information they provided about my questions:
Solution Proposed:
I looked into the details and found that the portal details cannot be added through the template.
The announcements and portals have many-2-many relationship and the portal is not a field on the table but needs to linked via embedded list.
Instead you can restrict the portals that the users can have access to. However, having an empty portal will result the announcements to be shown all portals. Please make sure that portals are added.
announcement_admin are required for the users to create the announcements.
This solution will not prevent designated dept announcement admins from accidentally posting an announcement for all portals instead of just their own dept portal, so it doesn't help us do any restrictions just for posting to specific portals.
Thanks again!
