PAR means Performance Analytics Reports.

There are a host of new benefits with this new architecture and experience layer including better performance, unified visualization (performance analytics and reporting have a more consistent configuration), unified filters, and insights. 
Your performance analytics configuration (indicator sources, indicators, breakdowns) do not go away. What we have changed is the visualization layer from pa_dashboards (the legacy experience). 

There is a migration process for moving your legacy dashboards to this new experience. Check out the Academy recordings for more information.
