Why do some article not appear in the category?

I'll add the supporting images on the next post.

As an example I will follow one KB article.

KB0012821 is published in  IT Knowledge  >  Applications/Software  > What is the current version of the iPad apps?

When I go to the Self Service KB view it shows in the empty category bucket with many other articles that are assigned to different topics.

What would cause KB article that have topics and categories applied, to appear in the empty category?

Hi Mark,

from the screenshot you posted I can't clearly see which release your instance is on, but it looks like you are using Knowledge v3. One of the big differences between knowledge v2 and v3 is that the latter no longer uses the Topic in the organizational structure, but the Category. You can find more information on the differences of these two version in the docs: Knowledge Management v3 migration.

I hope this sheds some light on the issue you are facing.

Kind regards,

Hi Mark,

Open the articles that fall under empty. Perhaps they don't have category defined in the backend.

Thanks for the feedback. None of my KB's have a category. They all have topics. I tried to illustrate   with the screen shot the issue, but the jpegs are not showing up clear. In my example the KB has a Topic of Application/Software and when i pull up the admin edit KB view it clearly shows in that Topic. When you pull it up in the Self Service view the KB shows under empty. The vast majority of my KB's show in the right Topic section but about 10 percent that do have a topic show up in Self Service under empty.
