We are working on an Expense Management project using the Employee Center (ESC) portal in ServiceNow. Employees submit expense line items using a form based on the custom table x_merl4_expense_ma_line_of_items.
When the request is returned by the approver (state: Returned for Review), the user should be able to edit certain fields and also upload attachments. The attachment field has been added to the backend form layout. There are no UI policies or client scripts hiding it. However, on the ESC portal, the attachment section is not visible even though the form is editable. We are not using the classic service portal. Has anyone faced this issue or knows how to make the attachment section appear in this scenario?

Hi @VrindaGirdher,
what do you mean "We are not using the classic service portal", so it is the employee centre or what exactly?
Can you share some screenshots to get a better idea?

Yes, by "not using the classic service portal," I meant that we are using the Employee Center (ESC) portal.
I will share the following screenshots for better understanding:
The form page on the ESC portal where I want the attachment field to be visible.
The backend table form layout, where the attachment section is already added and visible. This will help clarify where exactly the issue is occurring.

please share some screenshots.
Does your user have read and write ACL to that field?
If my response helped please mark it correct and close the thread so that it benefits future readers.

Hi Ankur,
Thanks for the response.
Yes, the field has an ACL, but the user (myself) has read, write, and update access to it. I’ve verified the permissions, and I have the admin role assigned so there shouldn’t be any access restriction.
I will also share the screenshots shortly for better clarity.
Thanks & regards
