How to Disable All Notifications after Full Clone to Dev Instance

We performed a full clone to our Dev Instance.  I'd like to know what our options are for disabling Notifications for all users.  I know an individual user can make a change from their Preferences, but I want to perform either (1) an instance wide shutdown of Notifications or (2) Restrict a Select Set of Users from sending Notifications.

  1. Is there a system parameter that can be set?
  2. I saw a post regarding changing the Notification field in sys_user.  I want to confirm that if the Notification field is set to Disable for a user, then this Disables Notifications/Emails to that user.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can shed on this topic.

Hi Renee,

Once cloned ServiceNow will get the system properties for sending mail disabled automatically for the target instance.

  1. Is there a system parameter that can be set? -- Yes
  2. I saw a post regarding changing the Notification field in sys_user.  I want to confirm that if the Notification field is set to Disable for a user, then this Disables Notifications/Emails to that user. -- That's correct. You can perform this action as bulk update.

Yes

So if you did not perform any action on the user table, and you want to keep all your notification should go out, then put a single email address in the 2nd box.

Just to make sure I'm understanding your response....Are you saying that if I change the Notification field from "Enable" to "Disable" in sys_users for a given set of users, it will stop notifications from being sent to those users?

Hi @Renee-17

(1) an instance wide shutdown of Notifications

I am referring instance wise, if you disable this or if you don't want to disable, add a single email address so that all email will go to that email id not  to individuals.

Do I have to enable email sending in order to receive all emails to the test email account(s) that are listed?
