Hi Folks,
I've had a good look around for this topic - not found much since 2014. We are on SanDiego - going to Tokyo shortly. Have a Service desk who currently use the Schedules to let customers know opening hours. I will be working with them after the upgrade to move to Business Calendars. However, for the moment - I need to know which role is needed to allow nominated members access to the schedules module/app - none is indicated in the Module settings (pencil in the Nav section) - any pointers - gratefully received

Hello Steve,
In ServiceNow, access to modules and apps is controlled by roles assigned to users or groups. To allow nominated members access to the Schedules module, you will need to assign the appropriate role to those users or groups.
Here are the steps to assign a role to a user or group, you can always reverse trace using other ways too post your upgrade to tokyo , you no role application issue may get fixed post upgrade :
Log in to your ServiceNow instance as an administrator.
Navigate to "User Administration" > "Users" or "Groups".
Locate the user or group that needs access to the Schedules module.
Click on the user or group name to open their record.
Click on the "Roles" related list.
Click the "Edit" button to add a new role.
In the "Role" field, enter the name of the role that has access to the Schedules module. You can search for roles using the magnifying glass icon.
Save the record.
Once you have assigned the appropriate role(s) to the nominated members, they should be able to access the Schedules module.
If you're not sure which role has access to the Schedules module, you can check the module settings. Here's how:
Click the "pencil" icon next to the Schedules module in the application navigator.
In the "Module Settings" dialog, check the "Role" field. This will show you the name of the role that has access to the module.
If the "Role" field is blank, it means that access to the module is not restricted to any specific role. In that case, you can assign the appropriate role to the nominated members as described above.
I would also recommend to check the users roles/permission that currently have access to the application and that way you can always trace it back to the root role.
Please mark my answer correct/helpful in case it adds value and moves you a step closer to your desired ServiceNow solution goal.
Thanks,
Punit

Hi Punit, thanks for you time and efforts in your response. However, I'm aware of roles and groups - and how to apply them - perhaps I was not clear enough in my question. It is the specific out of the box role that allies with use of Schedules that I wondered if anyone knew the identity for. I can see in the Nav that for schedules we don't seem to have any role applied to this - so I assume that only admin can enact the menu and get into the schedules.
Thanks again
