How to set up VA notification for web chat client

I'd like to create a notification in virtual agent for a specific population about a specific event. However, when following the instructions on the prod doc Set up Virtual Agent notifications for the web chat client it indicates that I must select a table. Not sure what table to choose from if my notification is a 1 time event, say covid-19, for example, or a notification about deadline to enroll for benefits. These are business required notifications and are not coming from a table like a case or incident would.

Is there a way to setup a notification without having to select from a table. Otherwise, if a table must be selected, what table should I use for this purpose?

Thanks.

Hi again, circling back into this notification feature now that are having a need to display outage messages in Virtual Agent. For example: when there is an outage on a certain HR related application.

I am able to access sys_notification.list but I'm trying to figure out how to fill this out.

I'm guessing we can leave the Table field empty, since the notification I want to trigger is about an outage.

Under Trigger by, I've  input "event"

But in the Event field, it asks me to select an event. I guess I'd need to create the event?

I would like for the outage message to be displayed in VA right after the initial greeting. Is there a possibility to create an event as such?

How do I control in which moment would the outage message appear in VA?

Thank you.

You have to choose the table name to cmdb_ci_outage and define the condition. If you choose events you have to trigger the events to invoke this notification.

Once you submit and add content, it will prompt to select the notification type and message.

Also, the notification is going to drop you before the greetings.

My recommendation is to use the Portal Announcements (announcement) table.

If you're not using this already for random (including business-required) announcements, I'd highly recommend it. You can have it show banner notifications which are rather in-your-face announcements at the top of the portal (you see dismiss-able examples on the Community here occasionally).

Seems to me like it'll be a little redundant to be honest, but for something notably important, there's little harm in making it even more in-your-face. If you don't want it to also appear as an Announcement, just deselect Banner and Widget from "Type" and then you can tweak the conditions of your notification to only show these (if you want to eliminate the redundancy).
