Hi Folks-
We're on our CSDM journey. As we're making good progress, we're stuck on how to identify/map/relate technical services via a Business Capability. We have designed our capability model not just what the business does, but also what our IT teams deliver especially around infrastructure platforms. This enables our infrastructure Architects to see simpler view of what we technically offer. The current CSDM model (see model image we refer too) does not map to Technical Services to the Capabilities, but does so for Business Services. So, we're scratching our head, why not. If Business Services do, why not Technical Services. Just want to draw line on the CSDM model from Tech Services to Business Capability...:)
That said, any recommendations on how we can represent our IT infrastructures services as a Capability from a Technical Service? We didnt view as App Service or even as I heard in the YouTube video "System Service". Also, did seem to fit to create a Business App. Could be wrong, hence the guidance.
Example: File & Block storage. Both are different types of storage platforms delivered by a different technology vendors. In turn, we identify each as a Technical Service, then map our applications (App Services) to the specific tech service. App ABC depends on File Storage (Product name).
Note: We don't use technical service offerings & do not foresee in the near future.
Much thanks!

If i speak from my experience, App service is must to link the Infra and BS & BA But again as you are on journey so it depend on use case you want or not. But I will say, may be keep as dummy to fulfil the model.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

Hi Mauryd,
I suspect that in your case it would be sufficient to replace the "Business Service" entity with the "Technical Service" as the child of the "Provided By" relationship with the "Business Capability". That way you will map the capability to the technical service, and still remain compliant with CSDM requirements, as per attached diagram"
Thanks,
Tamir

Thanks Tamir! We'll proceed with that approach.
