We were planning on using the Service Builder to build out our Business Services and Service Offerings. We also wanted to display them on the System Status Page. We assumed that their would be a "+" button or something to display the offerings under the service but this does not appear to be the case with the OOB widget. I did figure out how to change the widget to display the services listed under the cmdb_ci_service_business table instead of the default cmdb_ci_service table. I found this and we would like to create similar functionally in ServiceNow.
I also noticed if you use Service Builder it classifies the Business Services as "service" and if you add an entry manually and use the "convert to buiness service" ui action it list it seperatly as a "Business Service" is this by design and what is best practice?

Offerings made sense to us too and we changed the widget to show offerings instead of the parent service. The business service was not specific enough to make sense in terms of impact.

Hi Chris,
the service status is a status overview from the early days, that I am now sure is fit for purpose today.
It can be a huge (unfiltered) list exposed to all portal users while as a User I would only be interested in the services (offerings) I am subscribed to. Meaning, I would make use of subscriptions at some moment in time.
Eg:
If a Business Service is Teams and the solution is separated in regions than I would be interested in Teams for my region (which most likely is the offering level).
Whan in incident and change management outages are created on service offering level it could be populated in the virtual agent welcome message.
"
Welcome ....
by the way these services do have outages.
"
This is limited if I remember well to last 3 outages and not filtered based on subscriptions in the example topic, but that is a little tweak. If you want to represent the service status in the portal, then I would create a new widget based on the above.
BR,
Barry
