Hi I am trying to figure out how the two tie together. I have never worked wit heithe process and my organization will be implementing both in the next few months. They are big projects and any help would be appreciated.

Ideally, you would link CIs to Changes to understand the impact of planned changes and to have a history of past changes to CIs especially for unplanned/emergency changes. This can help with trending to understand where improvements can be made to reduce issues for planned changes as well as reduce the likelihood of future unplanned changes.

Hi Rebecca,

We are currently implementing both in the first phase of the whole Service Now release.   I asked for the CMDB to be implemented as a pre-requisite due to the advantage of identifying conflicts between CIs and also for understanding the risk in relation to each change.

If we weren't to implement the CMDB as we implement Change Management, we may as well be running an independent toolset for changes.
