Web Development

Hi,

I was curious, I'm in school for Web Development and I wanted to know if my skill set (HTML, CSS, Javascript) can be implemented in any jobs in ServiceNow? Do they have web developers? Do any jobs correlate with those languages?

Hi,

Well, almost all of the ServiceNow certifications beyond Sys Admin require Sys Admin as a prerequisite, so that's really your starting point, but before you even get to that (because the class itself is $2400...) I'd recommend you review resources like:

1) This community forum

2) ServiceNow Foundational Videos https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_article&sys_id=a2dc2a65dbd0dbc01dcaf3231f961...

Then

3) ServiceNow Fundamentals Course/Certification (aka Sys Admin) https://www.servicenow.com/services/training-and-certification/system-administration.html

Hi,

Those skills would cross-over to ServiceNow. If you're able to pickup and learn any angular and jelly as well that would be very beneficial, but from a basic stand point HTML/CSS is good to know for Service Portal and working with widgets and the like. Javascript is obviously heavily used across the platform in coding/scripting. You'd want to also try to pair that with understanding ServiceNow from a system perspective, so look at the Sys Admin level of understanding/class/certification and then you can start to branch off to ServiceNow Development.

Hi Kelbino,

Depends on what you want to do. Maybe 70% to 80% of administrator activities can be done without programming. For advanced functions you will need JavaScript. For portal design, you will also need to know HTML and CSS. ServiceNow’s Glide scripting API was designed for use with JavaScript. Access to system functionality, including the database, is through the Glide API.

Mark Helpful or correct if it helps.

Thanks

I would like to make use of all three so I guess I would have to learn how to use the portal and also learn the advance functions.  Which certificates should I turn my attention to?
