Mega Menu issues with Employee Center Pro

The mega menu seemed to be working before updating our plugins to Employee Center Pro and now I cannot get the mega menu to show. I have the taxonomy active and have tried cloning it and associating the cloned taxonomy but it is not working. I only see 'More, Org Chart and Chat' as options and 'More' does not even function. Not sure where to go to check on this further. I can't add menu items through the portal > main menu > related list items like I have read about either.

That is interesting - and there must be something we are overlooking. I did not have an issue like this. But, I do know where the More, Or chart, and chat should be.

Those are being used under Menu items:

Once you are there, you should see a list of Header Menu widgets along with their Titles and package - something like this:

find_real_file.png

Now for me, I am using the very top one using the Header Menu widget on the Employee Center Menu. When I go into that (Clicking on the Updated Column to get me into the correct record), it looks like this (you may need to change applications if you are in the wrong one):

Down below under Related Links, Menu Items (I created the Workday one and added the Knowledge Articles - but inactivated More and Org Chart):

This is probably where you need to go to get More, chat, and chart off your header menu.

Furthermore, I am still unclear as to why your mega menu isn't showing up. It has to be from the taxonomy part. That is where my brain keeps going since that is where my mega menu comes from, as shown in my screenshots from my first reply.

Also, which one did you set to false? Part of the process in migrating/upgrading to EC Pro, as I am sure you know from going through the initial steps, is that you have to clone the present taxonomy and then move forward with your newly cloned one. Is that the process you took? And if so, be sure to set the correct Taxonomy to false.

Please try all the above and keep us posted 🙂

Hope this continues to help you out!

Thank you so much for this - I was able to edit my menu to be more useful for the time being.

With reference to the taxonomy and cloning, I did clone the original one and then worked through creating some topics and content mappings before attaching to the Employee Center Pro. I also deactivated the original taxonomy to ensure there was no competition or duplication.

I agree I must be missing something on setup and that it is likely related to the taxonomy but I haven't been able to pinpoint the issue.

Good Morning,

Okay - I have a couple other ideas to check out.

First, your portal(s)...  Have you gone to those and changed the taxonomy being used?

In your filter navigator type portals and click on Portals under Service Portal:

find_real_file.png

You should see a list of portals appear. Select the Employee Center as your portal since that is the new one we are working with. Towards the bottom you should have some tabs, one should say Taxonomy.

If you have not changed this yet, then that means the portal you are trying to configure is still using the original taxonomy (or none at all since you made it false yesterday).

Here is my OOTB Employee Portal from my personal dev. You will see that it shows HR, IT, then Org.

find_real_file.png

I cloned the original taxonomy and reordered HR and IT... But, it still shows HR as first as seen above. Now I will change my portal taxonomy to the new clone one and:

Here is me switching them out:

find_real_file.png

One active (the new) and the original false:

find_real_file.png

Refresh the portal page and now IT is first:

find_real_file.png

I would check on this portion of the steps to make sure you are using the correct taxonomy with the new portal.

Otherwise....

Another idea if you want to try. Maybe we should try and repair the plugin application for employee experience taxonomy.

find_real_file.png

When you click on Employee Experience taxonomy, you are taken into its application plugin form (I am just naming it that - haha).

Towards the bottom under Related Links, there is a link called "Repair Application". Only this time, if you did not the first time, have it load Demo Data as well. This might be the reason you are missing the Mega Menu option when connecting your content.

find_real_file.png

Now, you may, once doing this, reconnect your content. I have not tried this so I am not sure if that will happen. My imagination says you probably will need to.

Please keep me posted!

Talk soon,

-Rob

Morning!

Thank you for your persistence helping me!

I have applied and checked the taxonomy through the portal configuration and still seeing the same menu:

find_real_file.pngfind_real_file.png

I also repaired the plugin as you suggested and am not seeing any content. I see my topics with connected content in the 'popular topics' widget though, which makes me think the taxonomy is partially functioning:

find_real_file.png

I should add that the mega menu was working until I activated the HRSD related plugins in our instance. Not sure if there's something I need to repair there or edit in that application scope.

Oh man... Very sorry none of this has worked for you.

When I have time I will try to dig in and see if I can duplicate the issue. If I can do that then it would help.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the portal side of SN sees this and can lend a hand.

I am only posting this here just to be here - but I am sure you have seen this SN Doc: Mega menu

Maybe double checking the steps here might spark something.

Thanks,

-Rob
