Instance Security Dashboard (PA) vs Instance Security Dashboard

Before turning on Instance Security Dashboard (PA) in our production I activated this in our development instance.   The numbers that show between Instance Security Dashboard ( PA) and Instance Security Dashboard do not match.  For instance using the PA it shows we are 83% Compliance while using the Instance Security Dashboard without the PA shows we are only 43% compliance.

Does anyone know why the difference?

I'd go with the PA one then! Just kidding. I found this in the release notes for Madrid. In Madrid, there is a new portal page (/isc) to manage instance security.

Application security
Instance security center and dashboard usage
Using the Instance Security Center and dashboards, you can monitor the security compliance score for your instance and detect, protect, and respond to instance-based security events. These functions have evolved over time, and certain rules govern their use in specific releases.
As of the Madrid release, the following rules apply:
  • The Instance Security Dashboard, introduced in Jakarta, has been deprecated and is not available in Madrid.
  • The Instance Security Dashboard (PA), introduced in London, is an enhanced version of the Instance Security Dashboard that uses the Performance Analyticsframework. It is only available in Madrid if you activated it in the earlier release.
  • The Instance Security Center, introduced in Madrid, consolidates several key security components into a single central console. It replaces both the Instance Security Dashboard and Instance Security Dashboard (PA).

As for the difference in the score, I am not sure. I'd have to look at what metrics were being collected in each report. I'd simply go with the isc portal.

Hello Jay,

Do you know how all these mentioned are different then Instance Security Dashboard using Performance Analytics. I'm on Madrid and found that Instance Security Dashboard (PA) and Performance Analytics - Instance Security Dashboard both are available for me. I have activated both but unable to understand the difference , moreover there is no mention of Performance Analytics - Instance Security Dashboard plugin in SN Docs.

Hi Sonesh,

I am seeing the following in my basic out-of-box Madrid instance. Notice it has a dependency on the plugin you are asking about. I do not know the difference between this one and the Instance Security Dashboard (PA) one other than the PA one is being replaced by the ISC (portal).

From Docs: You can use the Instance Security Dashboard (PA) or the Instance Security Center to monitor the security compliance score for your instance. I a guess the PA one will be sunsetted at some point.

Regards,

Jay

Thanks Jay. Even my understanding is same. Appreciate your time.
