Hi all,
My scenario is not about procuring a laptop (asset in general) asked via catalog item by some internal users.
Differently my scenario involves the massive import of assets and then the management of the shipment of the single asset to the external client that bought the asset itself.
E.g. 50 laptops have been imported in assets table, then I define a new contract with a new client (using CSM) and because of it I have to deliver that asset to the client, tracking the shipment.
How can I manage it with OOB features? ITAM is the module?
Many thanks again

Hi @Tommaso2 ,
As per my understanding, Below is the flow I can think of
1. You bring the laptops in
You import them into ServiceNow’s asset table. Think of this as your warehouse inventory list.
2. You sign a contract with a client
Using Customer Service Management (CSM), you record that this client has bought some of those laptops.
3. You assign the laptops to the client
In IT Asset Management (ITAM), you link specific laptops to that client’s contract. Now those laptops are “owned” by the client in the system.
4. You ship the laptops
ServiceNow doesn’t have a dedicated shipping module out of the box. But you can use **Asset Transfer Orders(part of ITAM) to represent shipments.
You can add details like courier, tracking number, shipment date, and delivery status.
5. You track the lifecycle
Update the asset status as it moves: “In stock” → “Shipped” → “Delivered.”
This way, you always know where each laptop is and who it belongs to.
ITAM= your warehouse and asset lifecycle tool.
CSM= your customer contracts and relationship tool.
Shipment tracking= handled by transfer orders and status updates (with optional courier integration if you want more automation).

Hi,
Thank you, two more questions:
1. Asset transfer order can be managed only with HAM or with basic asset management included in CSM/FSM as well?
I found "Inventory > Transfer Orders" so I think it's fine, can you please confirm?
2. I think asset transfer order could work, we could move asset from the internal general stockroom to the external locations (client locations).
We have no client stockrooms, just locations, so we should slightly customize the form to include the asset destination
3. Finally, I thought we could manage it with a RITM if asset transfer order is out of scope (not included in CSM/FSM)
Many thanks in advance
