CI Reference Lookup

I am wanting to make the CI field on Change and Incident forms mandatory. My issue is when a user clicks the magnifying glass there is an option to create a new CI. I do not want user able to create CIs. How do I remove the create new option on the look up.

Also when the user goes to search for CI it references the cmdb_ci table. Is there a way to filter the view of this table when a user clicks the magnifying glass. Currently they are able to choose from all 5 million plus CIs and I would like to filter the view to only CIs that would pertain to change or incidents and not all. I just want to customize the view when a user clicks the magnifying glass only display certain columns and open with a custom filter.

See attached Image for reference

Thanks.

Hi @Daniel Grande ,

The new button is probably coming due to the users having Create access on CMDB table. Kindly visit the ACL for the same n make necessary changes to role added in that ACL as to who should get an option to create the new CI & who should not. This will address the New Button issue.

Coming to showcasing the limited CI's you can right click on the field & navigate to Configure Dictionary. There u can apply appropriate filter for CMDB table to showcase the data.

In order to modify the columns which should /should not be visible. You can click on the magnifying glass. Once the data appears. Right Click on any column and select configure List Layout. Select whichever fields are required to be showcased by moving them to right bucket n saving it.

Hello Danish,

Is there a reason I cannot edit this ACL rule or permissions?

You need to elevate to the security_admin role to modify ACLs.

This role is explained in the following URL:

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/utah-platform-security/page/administer/security/concept/security-...

This URL also has a hyperlink to a page explaining about how to elevate.

Hi @Daniel Grande ,

Please click on your profile on the right hand corner, you should be able to see Elevate roles, please click on it. & check the security admin role checkbox. Once checked then plz try to open refresh the ACL page u should be able to edit it.

Thanks,

Danish
