Differences how Microsoft Auto-Pilot and ServiceNow determine unique fields in HAM

Hi Folks,

 

I recently had cases where duplicate computer records get created in ServiceNow's HAM module and investigated the cause to be Microsoft's Auto-Pilot. 

 

Microsoft Auto-Pilot has the unique asset identifier set to the computer serial number whereas in our context here we use Computer Name (which also happens to the same as the asset tag). I also understood that ServiceNow's identify assets based on asset tag/host name (OOB).

 

How do I address these two out of box differences and stop duplicate asset records from being created each time when we rerun Auto-Pilot on the affected computers? Is there something that can be done in ServiceNow that we can study, or look at?
