Manage Non IT Facility Assets

Hi,

Would like to get thoughts from experts on how have they handled management of Non-IT assets like facility assets like Lifts, Kitchen equipment within ServiceNow.

Can you share your experience here like did you end up just onboarding assets or both CI as well and what class was used to onboard CI if cases needs to logged against those CI?

Hope this helps. Please mark the answer as correct/helpful based on impact.

You can activate the following application to bring in more types of product models (including facility model) and asset classes (including facility asset). The newly introduced model and asset tables are explained in the following URL:

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/washingtondc-it-asset-management/page/product/enterprise-asset-ma...

Note: There is an alm_facility table available OOB which is a child table of alm_asset. But I think it is soon going to be a legacy table since products like enterprise asset management and workplace service delivery were introduced in the recent years which seems to be not using that table.

If your objective involves managing a lot of non-IT assets, it is recommended to use the enterprise asset management product mentioned below:

https://www.servicenow.com/products/enterprise-asset-management.html

We have this already enabled and we are leveraging the same concept. I was more interested in knowing how others have implemented in terms of CI lifecycle management for these assets in their organization.

Hope this helps. Please mark the answer as correct/helpful based on impact.
