Hello All,

As we know we have 2 things when it comes to leave in HR module 1)leave of absence and 2) Parental leave.

I want to know if the employee is applying for leave of absence reason like casual leave etc then how can we show on HR profile of respective user under leave of absence.I tried playing with oob hr leave of absence in business rule but again its coming under parental leave .

Can anyone help how can we configure this so that if any person apply for casual leave ,leave type should casual neither parental nor empty.

Hi Nivedita,

I would encourage you to look at the Employee Experience packs that we have for HRSD. You can find them at the share site here - Employee Experience Packs.

This gives a great blueprint for the PLOA process. You can see where this feature has leveraged the HR Profile for the designation of leave for the employee. I am certain this will give you the details needed for you to be successful in your LOA processes.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Michaelj,

Thank you for the response.I'm going through that Employee Service pack not sure if this is going to work because I don't want to create any new HR services I just want to differentiate between parental leaves and rest of the leaves (like casual, planned) which are falling under same table leave of absence table as of now..

I realize this is an old question and you've probably found a solution already, but just in case others stumble upon it...

It looks like it's as simple as configuring the choices on the "leave_type" and "leave_subtype" fields on the Leave of Absence (sn_hr_core_leave_of_absence) table.

As far as I can tell, the only ServiceNow built feature which explicitly uses Leave of Absence is the Human Resources: Parental Journey experience pack, and since that hasn't been updated since 2019, I think it's pretty safe to create your own new leave types and subtypes on the Leave of Absence table and use them however you want.

I would agree with @Ben Rowny here. At my last client and now with my current company, we are planning to utilize the LOA table and extend the leave types even further. I'm planning to make use of that table instead of creating "leave start" and "end dates" (and what not) on the LE Case Table (or any other Case table).

Furthermore, I don't think that ServiceNow has ever mentioned that they plan to "further update" the exmployee experience packs - even if they give you a good starting point.
