MID Server Discovery - Wrong asset name

Hello,

We have the MID Servers in our environment in AWS as EC2 instances. When discovery is running the assets name ends up in CMDB with ip-10-xx-xx-xx format. This is because we are running the Discovery on IP Ranges and AWS DNS not being an authoritative server it would not do the reverse lookup on the IPs and it would result in having this entry instead of the actual server hostname.

Is there any way to configure specific name servers against which the Reverse lookup runs instead of the DNS servers configured in the OS ?

Hi @AlexMilotin  can you check  related Pattern . Verify the temporary variables in Identification section where the actual server name stored and map it  asset name with the Extension section pattern .

Identification pattern:- Baseline Pattern (Don't made any changes)

I would need a little bit more details on how to achieve this since i'm only the System administrator of the MID Servers, but the application is maintained by a different team. I would like to give a proper targeted direction for this to check if it can be implemented
