Embed knowledge articles to item

Hi,

 

We have list of catalogue items where I added "related articles" in each of these items. Now I want to have these KAs visible at the item page. Meaning when someone goes to the catalogue & select any catalogue item, the related knowledge articles should show up on the side of the Item. 

 

There is a guide in SN community HERE that describes similar solution but I am not convinced with it as it is very immature way of doing it. 

 

is there any other way to make the knowledge articles visible at the Item ?

I think there is OOB related items widget Knowledge Related Articles. instead of custom widget,you can try configuring that.
