I was using Performance Analytics (Now Platform Analytics)
However I was unclear how each graph would be visualised, and what data it required and modifying them and re-saving etc proved time consuming. So hopefully this will save you time, as it did for me.
I will do a follow up, breaking down the requirements of each as the visualisation can redefine the data it requires (E.g. Time series graphs of course need a time stamp to place along the x-axis), but for now here are the most common graphs you'll likely use.
I've aimed to keep the data similar - Incidents and various field grouping based on that data (typically priority and impact).
Donut
Pie
Ideal for showing a percentage from a fixed range. E.g. Incidents, by priority or assignment group.
If your data isn't useful from a % view, it's better to use a Column chart or similar.
Semi Donut
List – Simple
Useful for viewing more advanced details, with custom columns. Best saved for 'more details' tabs.
Indicator Scorecard
Pareto
Horizontal bar
Vertical bar
Area (grouped)
Scatter
Typically useful for seeing relationships between 2 data points
Column
Useful for time series data, such as incidents created over time.
Line
Single score
Dial
Useful for showing progress towards a goal, e.g. 80% of 100.
Pivot table
Great for slicing data in various groupings.
Heatmap
Great for highlighting areas for improvement visually
Bubble
Good for seeing distribution of data
Boxplot
Useful for seeing ranges of data.
Geomap
Typically useful if location is a useful data point, such as where your incidents mostly come from.
Hope this helps save you time like it did for me!
