Need Help to build time series graph in performance analytic

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to build a Time Series( Line Graph) calculating average of a particular field. It is successfully calculating the average, the problem is for everyday it is showing the same average. I want to breakdown the report based on another field. I have created a breakdown but it is not working. Another doubt, is that i have a 'Timestamp' date/time field and i want the data to show average according to the dates stated in that field, instead it is referring to the system's 'Created' Field's date.

Also, what is the significance of 7d running SUM, 7d running AVG, etc. I am calculating Average on Field's value, when selecting the 7d running SUM, the graph shows cumulative sum of the average, but the same for 7d running AVG is not happening. The job i have created is running successfully. Need some guidance for creating this report. Kindly let me know if anyone has any clue regarding this.

Hi Shipra,

1) If the line graph is not going up and down over a period of time and showing same for all the days, I think you need to check the formula and the configurations once again. This happened to me once and I had missed a few things and ensure you have some date related filter on the indicator sources being used.

2) For the values not changing as per the breakdown selected, make sure you select the checkbox that says follow element while configuring the widget.

3) For calculating the average of a particular field, you need to make sure that while configuring the indicator and the indicator source or the formula, the correct field is selected.

Hi Soumya,

The graph was initially a straight line. On changing the 'Created' field dates the graph is showing up. My concern is that in the table there is a 'TimeStamp' column and the graph should be populating according to 'Timestamp' column's date/time value and not the OOB 'created' column's date/time.

I am not able to filter the date as the graph is populating on the created date field.

I have another query, when we select a fact table in indicator sources do we just have to simply select our table as fact table or   is it required to define the table as a fact table anywhere in PA application.

Hi Shipra,

1) Try going into the indicator source and below the facts table, add a filter condition called ' Timestamp' on today or before today. For example when I try to build an outage indicator, I come here to select the begin time of an outage or the created time of the outage record based on what I want to show on the widget.

Please try this and let me know if it worked.

2) There is no need to define the facts   table anywhere else, this is the table from where the records will get picked up and once you assign the indicator source to an indicator, the facts table automatically get assigned to the the indicator. And if you are using a breakdown for your widget, there you need to select the facts table (same as the one in your indicator source) and the field for breakdown in the breakdown mapping section.

Hi Sowmya,

Since it's similar to issue we are facing, i am continuing on existing thread.

Use case: Timeseries line graph for Monitoring tool tickets month wise

I tried to follow steps mentioned above ---In the indicator source we have added opened field as filter but graph is not getting changed month wise. Any suggestions if we are missing anything.
