Upgrade to Australia and Platform Analytics

Hi all,
following the release upgrade to Australia on 06/15/2026, what is the rationale according to which some Core reports/dashboards were automatically migrated to Platform Analytics (Next experience) and others were not?
Could someone explain it to me, please ?
Thx,

Fabiana

Hi @Fabiana3

I agree—we experienced the same issue with one of our clients as well. Some reports were migrated, and we were unable to identify the root cause.

As a workaround, we migrated all the reports to Platform Analytics (PA), which resolved the issue for us. My suggestion would be to log a ServiceNow support case and check whether they can provide any insights into the underlying cause.

In our case, the client environment was relatively small, so we didn't spend much time investigating further. Instead, we prioritized migrating the remaining reports to PA.

Hi @Fabiana3

Legacy Reporting framework and has been enhanced with the latest capabilities available in ServiceNow under Platform Analytics.

You can continue to use Legacy Reporting, but it is recommended to leverage the newer data visualization and analytics features available through Platform Analytics whenever possible, as they provide a more modern and flexible reporting experience.

For more information, please refer to the video and guidance on data visualization and analytics, which explain the available features and best practices in greater detail.

UPDATE (March 2026): In March 2025, we announced that the ability to create new legacy content (dashboards and reports) would be discontinued beginning with the Australia release. Based on customer feedback requesting additional transition time, we have extended this timeline — new legacy content creation will remain available through the end of 2027, regardless of release family. While you may continue to create legacy content, it is unsupported starting with Australia.

Key Points

  • No Mandatory Migration: There is no mandatory migration required at any time.
    • UPDATE on New Content Creation (as of March 2026): Legacy customers WILL be able to create new content using Core UI tools through the end of 2027.
    • Legacy dashboards and reports will remain available for use indefinitely. To clarify, as of March 2026:
      • USAGE of Core UI content remains available indefinitely
      • NEW Core UI content creation ends at the end of 2027
    • Removed requirement for "All or nothing" migration.
    • There is no impact for customers who onboarded with ServiceNow on the Xanadu or later family release. Platform Analytics experience is the default reporting and analytics environment for new instances as Xanadu.

Hi @Dr Atul G- LNG , thanks for your feedback and links, which I will definitely consult.
What I meant based on my specific experience is that our instance was upgraded to Australia on June 15, 2026, and during this upgrade, some legacy reports/dashboards were AUTOMATICALLY migrated to Platform Analytics, while others remained in Core UI. This automatic migration was unexpected (I thought I could manage it after the upgrade in an organized and planned way via Migration Center) and it caused issues for users.
In order to better manage the consolidation of all reporting on the new platform, I wanted to understand the rationale behind this partial automatic migration and whether it was included and expected with the upgrade.
Thank you very much,
Fabiana
