Hi,
Think also about the use of the Warrenty information. Registration is great but use this in operational processes is important.
Use-case: I want to have Incidents on hardware under warrenty solved by the vendor providing the warrenty service on that hardware.
In this case a check should be done on warrenty=true and if so what is the assignment group responsible to solve the Incident. If not what is the assignment group dealing with 'out of warrenty' Incidents or what is the way to go with out_of_warrenty incidents as very often that hardware is replaced.
Taking also this into consideration helps (I hope) in creating the best-fit solution.
Hope this helps,
Ed

Joe: There are two possibilities here:
1) Warranty expiration date on the asset
2) Create a contract record with start date and end date and add the asset to that contract
Hope that helps.

So after you add the record (add a vendor and short description to start)...then you will see an asset covered related list:
Create a contract:
Add asset to contract:
However, if you just want to identify a warranty end date - there is a field for this on the contract tab on the asset record. You can find that info in this doc:
The contract has some oob notifications; however, the asset warranty does not and it would need to be created.
