Good morning,
I would like to start using the hardware asset management included within our ITSM Module of ServiceNow.
But for the life of me, I am unable to clear out old data in the CMDB and Hardware Table to make room for a fresh start.
We had a previous SCCM integration which I have since disabled, and the Data Loads from MID are targeted to Users and Groups only, so I thought it would just be a case of following the steps below to clean out the Asset tables and old Configuration Items:
- Login to the instance.
- Navigate to the System Definition > Tables & Columns module.
- Select the "Hardware" table from the list of table names.
- Click on the "Delete all records" button.
Repeating above for the other tables also, like: "Base Configuration Item [cmdb]" etc
But after it completes, and I navigate back to Assets > Hardware assets, the computers and configuration items associated to them remain.
Am I missing something? Are they exact steps you need to complete in order to clean everything associated to assets and hardware out to start fresh?
Solved! Go to Solution.

Hi @Curtis Lewis ,
I'm not sure why the don't delete, they may be referenced in other tables which is preventing the records from being deleted. Here is a thread where a user was trying something similar and the advise was to retire the old CMDB items and assets as there is likely history behind them.
If you still want to delete all I would start with deleting individual records to see if any messages pop up informing of any issues
