Hardware Asset Management refresh, reclaim, lost/stolen, disposal process requirements mapping in ServiceNow

We are working on asset management implementation on the below processes.
1.) Hardware asset refresh request: This process requirement is to have a capability of replacement of old hardware assets like computer, laptop etc with new in case of old assets reach to end of life cycle or are faulty. It follows through automated workflow to assign tasks to different groups to fulfil the request.
2.) Hardware asset reclaim request: This process requirement is to reclaim the hardware from the user if he/she is no longer using it. It follows through automated workflow to assign tasks to different groups to fulfil the request.
3.) Hardware asset lost/stolen request: This process requirement is to have a capability in ServiceNow system which allows to report hardware lost/stolen and follows through reissue of hardware to the requester. It follows through automated workflow to assign tasks to different groups to fulfil the request.
4.) Hardware disposal request: This process requirement is to have a capability in ServiceNow system which allows user/agent to raise and track activities related to hardware disposal life-cycle. It follows through automated workflow to assign tasks to different groups to fulfil the request.
All the above process requirements require to record every transaction/activity into ServiceNow for reporting and auditing perspective.
We are proposing to create catalogue items with automated workflows (catalogue tasks) for the above process requirements. We want to understand from ServiceNow best practices and recommendations, are we on the right track or could you please suggest us some better way to fulfil these requirements. As we are on ServiceNow Orlando release so we can not utilise new hardware asset management features (available in ServiceNow store) to fill some dots.

Your ideas and proposed methodologies in the ITSM Asset product are sound. However, I'd encourage you to take a look at the Paris release of Hardware Asset Management, which contains several of the features you have identified. Moving to Paris may save you some development time and set you up to take advantage of new development coming from the ServiceNow ITAM business unity.
HAM is a new subscription-based product released in the Paris update to the ServiceNow Platform. HAM builds upon the ITSM Asset product. Below you will find a video demonstrating the core features in the new HAM offering. Expect additional features in the ServiceNow Quebec, Rome, and iterative releases thereafter.
