Hello Experts,
We applied pattern normalization rules and updated 500 + discovery models for 'Adobe Acrobat DC'.
However, i would like to add version and edition to the rule to further filter the products.
I tried to update the 'Rule' and apply the change it gets apply only the the discovery models which are partially normalized but the rule is not getting applied to the 'Manually Normalised' discovery models and i am unable to revert the normalization.
Your guidance will be appreciated.
Regards,
Ismail

Hi Ismail,
To directly answer your question, the 'revert normalization' ui action is unavailable for manually normalized discovery models. The easiest option is to run a script to set the desired discovery models to a normalization status of New. This will allow them to be renormalized by your modified rule when the daily normalization job executes.
Additional thoughts-
There are a large number of out of box rules to normalize Adobe products. I'm wondering why you needed to create pattern normalization rules. If Adobe wasn't normalizing properly, there could be an issue with your weekly content load or elsewhere in your system. It is best practice to not manually normalize widely available software. Instead, you should opt into the ServiceNow content service and send any not matched, partially matched, or publisher normalized discovery models to ServiceNow for addition to the content library. If you do this, the content team will create rules for the data received and within a few weeks the rules will be downloaded into your system and full normalization will occur.

Hi Daniel,
I'm struggling with Adobe Acrobat DC in particular. The information from the content library does not provide the version or the edition. Per a different post in the community, this information is not populating in the Discovery Model because "Adobe moved that info to the registry."
I submitted a HI Case for this and was informed that the version and the edition were not available in the content library. If I understand correctly, it seems that some people are trying to use a pattern rule to overcome this. Even though this is a widely used software, we're stuck and cannot manage it via SAM Pro.

Is there something additional that needs to be done to enable the Pattern Normalization Rules in Rome? I've followed the instructions on the ServiceNow Product Documentation and Applied the rule and it doesn't seem to be working. Is there a job that needs to be run? Could there be something in the background that is disabled that won't allow this to work?
