Software Model to Change Management Linkage

Hi,

I have a requirement to raise changes for Software Packages or Software Models which we manage in SAM as there will be rollouts happening for them and we want them to go through change and release management process.

I was not able to find any linkage from Software model to cmdb_ci that they can be available for selection on change Management as an configuration item, has anyone gone through similar requirement or if there is any other approach which should be followed?

that is correct, a software model is not a CI object and will never be selectable as a “configuration item” in a change request form. In my opinion, it doesn't have to be. What do you think of the suggestion that you place a corresponding UI rule depending on the category/service/service offering values, which then allows you to select a software model and, if necessary, transfer further information to the “Planning” area of the change.

If possible, would you give us a little insight into the changes you would like to request to the software model? With regard to the combination of software packages and software model, there should be a separate software model for each version, is that correct?
