What are advantages of implementing SAM?

Without SAM cant we leverage Software model and Software license tables for maintaining software request approvals and approval list and restrict software process.?

Anyone can give their justifications to opt for SAM instead of them?

Hi @Manikantahere
As per my Knowledge below details can help you

  • With SAM: SAM automatically tracks license usage and provides real-time compliance information. It checks whether your software usage aligns with your entitlements and sends alerts when you're nearing non-compliance.
  • Without SAM: You would need to manually track software usage and compare it to license entitlements, which is prone to error and time-consuming.

  • With SAM: SAM helps you optimize your software usage by identifying under-utilized or unused licenses that can be reclaimed and reassigned. It integrates with usage metrics and provides recommendations for optimizing your software assets.
  • Without SAM: You would rely on manual audits to find unused software, making it difficult to efficiently reclaim licenses and optimize spending.

Hi @Manikantahere,

To answer your question directly regarding what software tables are available via the standard IT Asset Management (ITAM module):

Regarding the advanctages and what SAM (Software Asset Management) module provides, rather than reinvent the wheel - check the following post which answers a few of these similar questions:
