Hello,
Please search the forums and ServiceNow for documentation regarding this. You can easily find this by using search terms you've already provided in your post. For example, you'd find this: https://www.servicenow.com/content/dam/servicenow-assets/public/en-us/doc-type/success/checklist/sof...
It's best that you understand the great resources you have access to as ServiceNow has provided a LOT of great material already.
Please mark reply as Helpful/Correct, if applicable. Thanks!

Hi,
Please find the steps below to achieve your requirement:
1) When we talk about SAM Pro implementation, first thing you need to validate is how you are currently getting your Software and other CI linked to software info. Like what are the Discovery sources you are currently using within the platform.
2) Based on your Discovery source can be ServiceNow Discovery or SCCM or Intune or something else, you need to make sure Software data is getting loaded into Software Installation Table which is the core and source of truth storing Software data which is utilized through out the SAM Process across the platform.
3) This Table holds info like Version, Publisher, Product and Edition info which is utilized to create Software Discovery Model in ServiceNow which is used in Reconciliation of Products to know if the software product is compliant or not.
4) Within this Software Discovery model, either you can manually Normalize the model even there is an automated job which does it for you.
5) Once this is done, you also need to look at getting Entitlement info from different vendors for the software you are using within your organization. This entitltement info will be utilized to know how much license you have and cost aspect as well.
6) Next step would be to create software model which again can be done manually or if Publisher Part number is available then ServiceNow creates it for you automatically.
7) Next step would be to Run Reconciliation to know which products are compliant or not and if not compliant then where is the issue may be the cost or license shortage. Can be viewed in Reconciliation result once run.
😎 From this you can decide if it is not compliant then you can remove it or buy some additional license.
Please refer below doc link for more info:

Hope this helps. Please mark the answer as correct/helpful based on impact.
