Where do I find Override License Costs in the Software Model?

I have Software Models in our SN instance and I've added Costs to each one.  We import entitlements without costs for a number of reasons.  But per ServiceNows documentation Accurately reporting your software true-up cost (servicenow.com), the SAM Pro workspace would use the costs from the Software Model if entitlements don't have a cost,or would override entitlements costs if they did have a value.

While I can see where to enter the Cost in the Software Model, apparently there is also supposed to be a setting to Override License Costs.  I get this message in the Software Model:

Info MessageWarning: Override license costs have not been specified for the 'Per User' license metric. Average entitlement cost will be used for true-up calculation.

But there is no place in the Software Model for Override license costs, or anywhere else in ServiceNow.  The SAM Workspace is not seeing the Costs in Software Model, so I am assuming I'm supposed to find Override license costs and update that?

So where is it?  Neither of these documentation pages actually show where it is.

You can find the override license cost table here: samp_override_license_cost

Tip: if you're not familiar with how to go directly to a table, enter this URL replacing the ????? with your company's unique identifier: <https://?????.service-now.com/samp_override_license_cost_list.do>

I suggest to populate the costs for the SW model in this table AND create a perpetual entitlement with 0 rights in order to set the license metric to per user or per machine.  The system will calculate the True-Up Cost during reconciliation and display in the license dashboard and reports.

Tip: For subscriptions, put the same annual subscription cost in both the license and the license + maintenance fields.

I wish this was visible in the SW model view as well.  I am requesting dev to add this as a configuration change.   Hope this helps!

Thank you for the reference to that table!  It is odd how there is no link in the Software Model to it and no way to know it exists.

I tried the steps above a few times for one product and run reconciliation a few times.  The SAM Workspace still doesn't seem to see/use the cost values.  I tried on 2 more products but haven't been able to make this work.

Is there another trick to get SAM  Pro Workspace to see the cost overrides?

First, I added the cost in the license field in the corresponding record in that override table, ran reconciliation, and checked the workspace to see if it showed a value for True-up cost.  I have unlicensed installs but the costs weren't showing.  Then I added the costs to the license+maintenance field too, reconciled, and same results.  Then I created a new entitlement for the same Software Model with 0 purchase rights, as suggested, reconciled, and same results.

I tried the same steps again with a second product and then a third.  It seems there is one more undocumented trick to get the SAM Pro Workspace to see/use the Software Model cost override?

Thank you for posting the link to that table!  Is there another secret or undocumented tip to make the software costs override work?

I tried the steps above for one product.  First I added the cost to the license field in the corresponding record in the override table.  I ran reconciliation, but the SAM Pro Workspace didn't show the costs.  It does show some Unlicensed Installs.

I then added the same cost to the License+Maintenance field in the override table, ran Reconciliation again, and same results.

I then created a Entitlement with 0 purchased rights as suggested, ran Reconciliation, and again SAM Pro Workspace didn't see/use the Costs.

I tried the same steps for 2 more products but again the SAM Pro Workspace isn't using the Costs.

I am thinking there is one more trick to make it work?

Can you check which license metric is used for the related entitlement?   I only tested for the simple per user and per machine metrics.  This is working in our instance.  Try that before we go deeper into investigation.

I assume you must have already had a valid entitlement before creating a new one with 0 rights because you mentioned you added the cost in the cost override table before creating the new entitlement with 0 rights.  I found that if you don't have a valid entitlement, then it is missing from cost override.  So, created a new one should not be necessary if you already have a valid entitlement.
