Hide categories in notification preferences

Dear experts,
I would like to somehow filter the categories in Notification Preferences by role or something similar to it. For instance, I would like admins to see categories A+B+C and ITIL users should see categories B+C and end users should only see category C. Just as an example.
Has anyone done anything similar in the past? I've googled around quite a bit but have not found anything helpful.

Hey Sophia,
The category values are stored on the sys_notification_category table. One possible option is to add a list collector field where you can define roles applicable for that category and then use a READ ACL to filter. Currently, the sys_notification_category has a READ ACL that allows all logged in users to see all categories.

Sorry for late reply. I appreciate your input and it is a good way forward. We are still in discussions with our customers so there is no decision to move forward with this at this point. I'll let you know how it goes if we end up implementing your solution :).
