How does "Opt-In" in the ServiceNow Store work?

Does anybody know if the available applications in the SN store are tied to our subscription, so that I'm only able to install applications we have a compatible license for?

This came up because we wanted to install Service Operations Workspace on our prod, but couldn't from the instance's plugin menu - there was a small yellow text below the plugin, stating that we're not subscribed, and need to open the store page and click on "Opt In" to entitle this plugin to our instances.

We obviously don't want to install anything we're not licensed for, which is what brings me here. Is it safe to install anything I can opt in in the store, or do I have to ask a support rep any time I want to install something, to make sure I don't install anything we're not licensed for?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

It's always best to consult with your ServiceNow Account Rep to ensure you don't get blind sided by installing something you're not licensed for. SOW should be included with your ITSM, but you'd want to double-check that.

Opting in, as you've mentioned, is essentially marking it for entitlement on that specific instance. Normally, this isn't required for sub-prod and you can basically install anything you want, but when it comes to Prod, there's that gate-check and the need to opt-in to then clear that warning so you can install it.
