Hello Community,
We are leveraging the Out-of-the-Box (OOB) Certificate Inventory and Management application and have a configuration question regarding the CMDB references used in the request process.
The OOB Catalog Item, 'Request New Certificate (Automated)', includes a List Collector variable for selecting the associated Application.
OOB Reference: This variable defaults to referencing the cmdb_ci_appl table (CI Application).
Our Requirement: We prefer to use the cmdb_ci_business_app table (Business Application) as the authoritative source for application CIs in our instance.
We plan to modify the List Collector variable to reference cmdb_ci_business_app instead of cmdb_ci_appl.
We are concerned about potential breakage to the OOB automation that runs after the request.
Has anyone in the community successfully made this change?
We'd appreciate any insight on the potential impact on the following OOB components:
Server Scripts/Business Rules: Do the OOB server-side scripts (Business Rules, Script Includes) that process the certificate request explicitly depend on the record being from the cmdb_ci_appl class?
Fulfillment Flows: Does the Automated Certificate Fulfillment Flow strictly require the application CI to be of the cmdb_ci_appl class for successful processing, installation, or linking to the final cmdb_ci_certificate record?
Future Upgrades: Did you encounter any issues with this modification being overwritten or causing problems during subsequent Certificate Management application upgrades?
Any guidance or "gotchas" related to switching this reference would be extremely helpful!
Thank you!
