Make Service Portal banner announcement real time

Hi there,

Is there a way to make Service Portal banner announcements update real time ?

I tried adding record watcher on 'announcement' table on one of the portal widget but that didn't help. On further investigation, I found that the code which generates the announcement banner is dynamically added to the HTML and it is not accessible. Need help to make announcement banner update automatically on portal whenever the data is changed in the back end (announcement table).

I see that the Announcement widget uses spAnnouncement API to get the list of announcements. So I am not sure if it would be possible to make the OOB announcement widget real time.

We had similar requirements, but we didn't use the OOB widget for the announcements, rather we chose to clone the Carousel widget to create a carousel style announcement, where messages change and are real time.

I think you will need to create a custom widget to make it show announcements realtime. I don't see any documentation on making the out of the box one real-time; you could check with Hi-Support if that is possible somehow.

Hi,

You can also create an announcement to display on the self-service portal if this is what you mean.  Service Portal -> Announcements.  Click new, and the fill in your announcement with dates.  With the "Type" you can specify how this displays.
