Can we modify the @mentions feature? Right now we can only search using first and last name. Is it possible to make it searchable with username, email etc? If so, where should this be done?

Hi Snow Learner, 🙂
I was going through an article from docs and looking into if any properties exist for making any customizations. But no mentions to it. This could be a good suggestion for servicenow upgrade.

Hi Snow Learner, 🙂
Did look into this article:
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/geneva-servicenow-platform/page/use/live_feed/task/t_AddMentionsToAMessage.html
This article does mention that @username should work but then on testing the same it does not. This is confusing by ServiceNow doc. I guess the assumption is, the user_name would contain either the first or the last name of the user, therefore, the search for@ would work. But I can understand, that may not be the case for all environments/organizations.
Coming on to the search by email, I do not think this will be supported by any chance. Since the email contains @ same as the mention identifier @.
I looked into the list of properties, if in any case. But no luck over there as well.
You should log this an enhancement for ServiceNow upcoming versions. You never know they might do it. If you find a solution for the same, make sure you post it here.

Vidyasagar

Thank you for the response Vidyasagar. I think the username they mentioned in the docs may just be referring to the user's name like first name and last name, which is the case right now OOB.
I think it is better to log an enhancement request.
