Search in Service Portal (how to add a new search source)

Hi,

I'm trying to find out how to add a new search source in the service portal.

Example:

sp_search_example.jpg

Here you have "Knowledge base", "Service Catalog" and "Questions and answers".

I'm trying to add a new table to search. Lets call it "u_table".

I've tried to add it as a Search Group to the Portal, but that only makes the name visible to the left, beneat "Questions and answers". But it doesn't search the table, and how to define which fields to search. etc.

Which version are you on? Helsinki or Istanbul? The reason I am asking is, the search source logic has been refined and updated in Istanbul.

Have you created an entry in sp_search_group?



Like for instance, for creating user search I tried this:

That actually worked for me as well



What if you are using a new table, for example "u_table1", then you don't have a page. Is page required? I know that if you click the user name, then user_profile is showing more information about the user.



So if the table is "u_table1", is there anything else i need to setup for the form to get searchable, or is the problem that i don't have a page.
