Where do the global roles sit in terms of licensing

I just want to clarify if the roles within Servicenow that are attributed to the 'Global'' application actually consume a license.

I raised a Hi ticket regarding subscription management previously and they sent me to https://hi.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0691998.

I can clearly see from the attached on this article which roles are ITSM, ITBM etc but I'm not sure if something like the 'report_global' role which is a part of the 'global' application should contribute to a license.

Licensing is one of the most difficult to answer questions as there are far too many variations in terms of what your agreement covers. The best answer is always going to be to contact your ServiceNow Account Representative and ask your questions specifically.

Depending on when you signed up there are differences even in what a particular license might be "named" that can easily cause confusion.

This is unfortunately one area where the community can offer little by way of answers, mostly because we don't want to give you incorrect information!

Hope this helps!

I agree with Michael's comment. Get a hold of the SN Account team and they can tell you what roles are what with it come to licensing. They will provide you with the best answer when it comes to ANY licensing question you might have.

As others have mentioned, your ServiceNow account team is the best and only authoritative source for licensing information.

However, in general most roles other than snc_internal or snc_external require a subscription of some sort.  For most user activity types, a requestor is the only user type which does not require a subscription, but a requestor cannot view records which are not their own requests.

So for Report_global, as an example, it itself does not consume a subscription, but if that is the users only role, they cannot view any reports, so they cannot share any either which is the point of report_global.  Someone with a fulfiller role (ITSM or CSM) could use report_global to share reports, but in that case they don't need a subscription for report_global as they already consumed a subscription as a fulfiller.
