The ServiceNow Operational Technology Discovery (OT) application amplifies visibility of OT devices in your system. With the OT Discovery devices you can capture an inventory of devices on your OT network. Operational Technology Discovery (OT) is a new application in the Australia release.

Operational Technology Discovery highlights for the Australia release

• Discovery Console for OT
  • The Console provides situational awareness of your OT environment. This awareness starts at the Human Machine Interface (HMI Purdue Reference Model Levels 2 and 3) and goes down to the field devices (Level 0) through the Console Network and Sensors.
  • The Console is used to administer, manage, and review the device data and discovery schedules executed on the OT network.
• Discovery Sensor for OT
  • The Sensor executes the discovery of devices and creates the OT environment of device inventory.
  • The Sensor can be installed either on a virtual machine or bare-metal hardware and delivers native OT protocol support.
• Service Graph Connector for ServiceNow OT Discovery
  • The Service Graph Connector imports data from a connected OT environment and leverages the Integration Hub ETL framework to import CMDB.
  • The Service Graph Connector also
    • Imports OT devices discovered by the Discovery for OT solution and assign them to sites in ServiceNow.
    • Restricts access to detected OT devices based on an industrial site basis.
• OT Discovery Collector
  • The OT Discovery Collector is a lightweight software application that is used to discover devices within segments of the OT network where a sensor cannot reach.
  • The Collector(s) is deployed deep within the network zones in your OT environment.
  • The OT Discovery Collector delivers native OT protocol support without requiring any appliance, making it fast to implement and easy to scale.
  • The OT Discovery Collector can be deployed on Linux or Windows hosts.

Operational Technology Discovery

The Discovery Console for OT user interface is designed to provide the user with a consistent experience across the application. The Console Home page provides easy access to your assets, auto queries, variable sets, sensors, and sites.

The APIs delivered with the console provides mechanism to communicate with the Service Graph Connector for ServiceNow OT Discovery and ingest the data from the console into the ServiceNow CMDB.

The Auto Query functionality provides automatic asset queries for the Discovery Console for OT in a scheduled fashion The auto queries are classified into Simplified and Advanced.

Variable sets allow auto queries to use credentials required and allow users to manage these per site level.

You can create sites, associate Network zones and ranges to define scope of your OT network for discovery to query. You can create ignore ranges as well and select assets that need to be excluded from a query.

You can monitor and manage the configuration and health of the Sensors and Collectors used for discovery purposes from the Console.

You can register Sensors and Collectors to ensure that they can communicate with the Console.

The Discovery Sensor for OT and the OT Discovery Collector scan your OT environments and create an inventory that guarantees visibility of OT devices.

Install the Operational Technology Discovery solution by requesting it from the ServiceNow Store. Visit the ServiceNow Store website to view all the available apps and for information about submitting requests to the store.
