duplicate asset created while asset bulk upload

i was trying to update existing asset data information through  datasource bulk upload process, duplicate record is created. it should have to update existing asset details but it didnt. creating new, how to fix this issue.

Resolved! I just learned that the KB article numbering is off.

I just learned that the KB article numbering is off. Similar to what was happening with the knowledge blocks, when creating a new article, it is reusing an existing article number.please assist me to where to check the issue to fix it.
