Help on preparing horizontal discovery document

Hi Connection,

I need help on preparing horizontal discovery document, we lost this document and I don't have much knowledge on horizontal discovery, now I have to prepare document and submit to client. I'm looking for what are the elements should be captured if any one help me guide what are the things should be captured. I just need to capture the worked done by previous vendor.

If you have access to Nowcreate, the discovery process guide in the following URL will be helpful for some generic content.

Regarding specific content for your client, following are examples of some important information to be captured:

1. Details about MID servers used for discovery

2. List of credentials used by discovery and details of teams/people to contact for any issues related to credentials (i.e. Mention just the credential name and URL along with the contact details. Ensure to avoid mentioning any passwords here)

3. List of discovery schedules and some description about each of them.

4. If you have documentation about CMDB, mention the link to access that. The CMDB document should contain information about key CI classes and attributes including those populated by discovery.

Also get inputs from your client stakeholders for any other important information that needs to be included.

He is asking for solution design. You need to give details not only about the implementation but also about the security related information. You can get started with, HLD and then go in deep. Do inform everything in the docuement in terms of how secure the instance is, how the creds will be stored.
