Printing knowledge articles

Does anyone else have issues printing knowledge articles directly from Employee Center? We have a requirement to be able to print articles from the front-end of Employee Center. I have tried in both my PDI and our company's site and below is what I get. Everything is OOB configuration for Xanadu. The article is just text.

 

I have seen some solutions recommended on the community but they all require backend access to ServiceNow. We need something that front-end users can use. I would think this would be OOB functionality that doesn't require much setup, but maybe I am missing something.

 

(It seems to be an issue when printing any page in Employee Center - not just knowledge articles)

 

Any recommendations are welcome. Thank you!

Hi @JD Barlow ,

 

ServiceNow documentation for Employee Center doesn’t mention dedicated printing features or enhancements for printability of knowledge pages.

 

Since the platform doesn’t support clean front end printing, here are a couple of practical workarounds:

 

Add a Print Article custom action in your Service Portal widget (or Employee Center widget), which opens the article in a printer friendly frame or modal.

 

Use manual selection: Select the article content manually and print only the selection works in many environments, though less elegant.

@JD Barlow I dont think this is available OOB but I did create a custom functionality for printing the knowledge article from portal and it is available on service now connect share.

We have not tried this. We want to avoid customizations and would really expect that the ability to print a page from ECPro would work OOB. Since it doesn't sound like this is available, I am hoping ServiceNow fixes this issue. I don't need a print icon that launches print functionality - just the simple ability to print from your browser and have a readable page. This seems like a big miss to me for ECPro functionality.
