Attestation Designer vs Survey Designer

All,

We were advised by our Snow rep to use the Survey Designer instead of Attestation Designer due to the inability of AD to scroll through more than the initial screen resolution when we begin the design.  I have to say not having this tested was a huge flaw in their Utah rollout.

However, SD doesn't bring up Attestation Types, and so I'm wondering if the two are actually the same and if we should try and use SD for AT forms for Control validation.  I wouldn't think so however I'm very new to this platform.

Has anyone worked with this situation before?

Thank you for your thoughts on this,

This seems odd to me.  Could you please tell me what "AD" is in your message?  I think I need to go ask about this and want to make sure I have the details correct.

There is a module in the Policy and Compliance app under the Admin section called Attestation Types.  That is where you should go to create/edit a control attestation template.  Is that not working for you?

The Assessment Metric Type table (asmt_metric_type) is the top level record for an assessment template.  There are LOTS of different assessment templates stored in this table - not just control attestations.  When you create the template from the above referenced module, there are hidden attributes that are set that make the control attestation show up where it is needed in the GRC app. There may be other fields - but there is one called Evaluation method - and it gets set to Attestation.  Then there is a Table field that gets set to sn_compliance_control. There may be others.

Also, please be aware that many people misunderstand how ServiceNow intends for the Control Attestation to be used. ServiceNow's baseline is really using it answer one question - is there a way to MEASURE the control. Not that the control has been measured, just is there a way to do it.  The use of the measurement process is what is usually defined in a control indicator and that measurement occurs during the monitor state of a control. Here is a link to a video that may help:  https://www.servicenow.com/community/new-customers-policy-risk/video-tutorial-controls-attestations-.... The video is 17 minutes and talks about the difference between control attestations, control indicators and control tests.

In the baseline, when the control is in the Attest state and an attestation is generated - when it is answered the logic in the baseline ONLY considers the first question - Is the control implemented?  (Another way to ask this is: is the control measurement process/procedure in place?). This is a default question that is populated when you create the attestation from the module above.  If you create it from the baseline survey designer this default question(s) will not be populated in the record.

I found this thread while trying to solve the same issue I think. What's happening, is in 'Attestation Designer', when you add more elements that can fit on the screen, you don't get a scroll bar to add more. This seems like a UI bug. (Survey Designer doesn't seem to have this bug).
