sn_hr_core.basic role giving users access to chat, is it giving users the ability to delete attachments off of HR cases

Would like to better understand the sn_hr_core.basic role and the specific permissions that it grants to people (e.g., is it giving users access to chat, is it giving users the ability to delete attachments off of HR cases, what are the differences between this role and sn_hr_core.case_writer, does it give the user the ability to edit the subject person in the case, etc.). Are users automatically granted this role when they are granted other roles? Does this role automatically grant additional roles to a user?

Hey there Harshada,

Are you an admin for your instance? If you are, you can venture to Roles under System Security Module from the filter navigator.

find_real_file.png

Once you click on Roles, you will be brought to the list of roles within your instance. From the list, you can do a search on the role you want to check on:

find_real_file.png

Click into the role to see more details. I only tell you this because the details within the role you are speaking to, provides just about all the information you are asking here within the Community.

Here is what it shows on my instance:

find_real_file.png

As you can see, the HR Basic role does inherit other roles for an Agent to do a lot of basic things with HR Cases. Yes, the role will allow HR Agents to work within an HR Case, add/remove attachments associated with a Case. So a big difference between HR Basic and Case Writer role, is what comes with each as an inherited role. HR Basic will give just that, basic roles needed to do good HR Case work. Case Writer comes with two inherited roles:

It really comes down to, how much work do your HR Agents need to do within the System?

From my end within our instance, our HR Agents always get HR Basic to start with. If additional roles are needed, then I look into what they need to accomplish, and which roles will get them there, without giving them too much. Just what is needed to do their job(s).

HR Basic again, will give them all the good basic needs in order to work HR Cases. Yes, they will be able to edit the Requestor, Subject Person, etc. Here is a shot, of one of my normal basic HR Agents having HR Basic as their Role - with an HR Case:(I have outlined the areas they are able to adjust if needed)

find_real_file.png

As you can see, they can still do a good amount - however, if you are looking to NOT have a basic agent do this much, they you will need to think about how you will need to lock certain things down.

Hope I was able to provide some good feedback/answers for you.

Thanks,

~Rob
