We have several users who are pasting URL's to planning documents in the description field of a change request.
The problem is that the URL's are treated as regualr text. We'd like to activate them so that clicking on the URL would open a new window with the target of the URL displayed.
We do have one field of type URL, but that is good for only one link. Some requests have many links and the description field is the most convenient field to receive them.
Any ideas?

Instead of using a regular text field, you could consider using an html field, and then adding a business rule to find valid URLs in the field and turn them into links.

We use Firefox or Chrome. IE is notoriously slow with SNC, and lacks support for all kinds of stuff we write.
However, after I put a link in the field, I changed the field to read-only. Then IE would let me click on the link.
Which takes us back to the business rule idea. To use IE, you might need to have two fields: one of them read-only. You would then copy the editable field to the read-only field with a before update business rule.
Then the links in the read-only field would be clickable.
Or, there might be some setting in IE that would let you click on the link in the editable field.
But I recommend Firefox. 🙂

Hi,
I realize this was a long time ago but do you happen to have any code for this? Kinda like a base I can work of? I really like this idea and I would like to try to make it work 🙂
