Hi My Friend
Yes, you can test it with ATF but it’s not a single checkbox or built in ATF step you do it with scripted assertions, depending on what you mean by “state.”
In practice, there are two “states” people usually care about:
1. Is the AI Agent enabled and ready?
This is the easy one. In ATF, we usually add a Run Server-side Script step and simply check the agent’s record:
Is it Active / Published
Are the required skills or tools enabled
This catches most issues where the agent exists but wont run.
2. Did the agent actually run and succeed?
ATF can validate this too, but indirectly. The usual pattern is:
Trigger the agent UI action, VA, Now Assist and flow.
In the next ATF step, query the agent execution records
Assert that:
An execution was created
The status is Completed / Success
Optionally no failed execution tasks
That’s how teams verify runtime behavior today.
Important limitation to be aware of
There’s no out of the box ATF step like “Assert AI Agent State.” ATF doesn’t natively understand AI agents, so the supported way is:
ATF + server side scripts + assertions on agent config and execution tables
That’s how I have seen it done in implementations right now.
