During the Performance Analytics Academy on June 3rd, we covered Analytics, Reporting & Dashboard development done right!?

You can quickly catch up on the why, what and how of development of dashboards and its contents in DTAP (Development, Test, Acceptance, Production) instances watching the video. Scroll down to read the summary and get useful links to documentation.

Summary:

  • Use the power and the benefits of being integral part of the same Platform

  • Work as a team - together you can create the right solution to the needs of the business
  • Plan ahead but start simple and expand from there

  • ALWAYS use the “unload dashboard” functionality when creating or modifying a dashboard

  • Only records on or directly related to the dashboard will be added to the current active update set

  • Records that are part of the related record referenced in the dashboard are NOT added to the update set, like indicator definitions, breakdown definitions or filter definitions

  • Records like users or groups for example are also NOT added to an update set

  • Good practice to avoid issues is to have an administrator / application developer take care of moving the dashboard between instances
