Questions & Answers (Click on the link to go straight to the Live Answer)
- Alternatives for report_stats and dashboard_stats when it comes to Platform Analytics?
- When we export the Dashboard or report manually, there are two options which are listed Download file, Send file via Email.
- Is there any way to deactivate the "Send file via Email" using a property?
- In Scheduled Exports - Can we lock down the ability of users typing in random email address? Is there an OOB way in the roadmap?
- In scheduled exports - Can we limit the Reoccurrence "Periodically choices platform-wide to limit the scheduled exports options?
- Scheduled Exports (scheduled-export-library) taking too long to load compared to others after migration- any improvements in this area? (Yokohama)
- I see a lot of new roles part of Platform Analytics. Do the new roles automatically get contained by the existing report roles, or do we need to analyze it and have it separately given to users based on the role purpose?
Live Question 2: What is the difference between Platform Analytics and Performance Analytics?
Live Question 3: Is there a way to create an archive rule to archive reports from the ‘Reports [sys_report]’ table? We have a lot of reports that haven’t been used in a long time but I’m sure that if I delete them, someone is going to pop up out of the woodwork looking for them. Ideally, I’d like to archive the unused reports so I have the option to restore them if someone raises the alarm. I tried to configure an archive rule, but the Reports table wasn’t available as an option. The only report-related tables listed were Report Executions, Report Stats, and Report Stats Executions. We’re using Yokohama and getting ready to upgrade to Zurich in a few months.

Live Question 4: Is there any plan to allow for filtering multiple different fields on the same table?
Live Question 5: For a calendar report data visualization, in Zurich, can we 1) remove the default 1-hour time stamp in the display events? 2) Can you expand the displayed event because the timestamp is taking up more space, and we have to select the date to see the other data?
Live Question 6: The Platform Analytics Dashboard has a new Image element available to add images to a dashboard. There's also a button for the user to upload their own image to the library. Will this feature be available for all users, or will this ability to upload their own images be limited to specific roles?
Live Question 7: Our team is migrating to PA, and we are exploring a game plan for that migration. I have migrated a single report on our instances to see the results. At times, the reporting application is no longer available, and in other instances, it still is available. Can you confirm if I am able to migrate certain reports while still maintaining the OG reporting application until we are ready to move everyone over to PA? The reason for this is that we want to do this in phases, and some dashboards/reports will need to be updated.
Live Question 8: Can you repeat the answer for this "Alternate for report_stats and dashboard_stats when it comes to Platform Analytics ?" It was too fast for me to capture.
Live Question 9: List Reports, when reporting on variables, you cannot search by the catalog item anymore. I know there is an issue out there on performance of searching the variables; however, now you have to search by the variable name only. If the variable is in a variable set, the variable set name is below the variable name and not the catalog item. End users don't always know the name of the variable set to know it's the right variable. The other issue is that once you add the variables as columns and then save the list report, the columns are still there in the visualization; however, the list of columns in the "add columns" area is completely blank, and you can no longer add columns without starting over or updating the JSON manually to add a column.
Live Question 10: Can we do related conditions on more than one table in the future?
Live Question 11: I had trouble uploading my own icons. Can you please demo that?
Live Question 12: Are all widgets supported in the migration to Platform Analytics?
Live Question 13: Are tools from Bravium going to be helpful in PA and PAW space? If so how?
Live Question 14: Can Predefined Conditions be given group/user rights? Now it seems there is one pool and everyone sees everything; this will get cluttered fast.
Live Question 15: Thank you! I can give an example of my use case: I created a db view that joins, sc_req_item and sc_task, along with some other tables. I have a filter on the sc_cat_item table to filter down which requests/tasks show. Under the data to filter section, I added an entry for sc_req_item.item and another for sc_task.item. However, on the actual visualization, it just defaults to whichever data to filter entry is listed first. I have a workaround (created 2 different views), but I am just wondering if this functionality is something that may be added in the future.
Live Question 16: Moving Platform Analytics Dashboards across environments remains a challenge. For example, I remove a widget on a dashboard, it comes back when the dashboard gets moved by an update set. It also happens when the dashboard is duplicated. Similar issues were initially a challenge in core dashboards for a few releases, too, but got quite efficient eventually. Does this get better for the new Platform Analytics dashboards? (We're on Yokohama currently, going to Zurich soon).
If not, then what are the best practices to live with this struggle? At this point, we do our PA "building blocks" in lower environments (indicators, etc) and move them up per SDLC. However, the visualizations themselves are such a challenge to move up the dev stack that we exclude them from the update sets and reconfigure them manually in production. This is inefficient and causes a lot of re-work, and leaves room for human error.
Live Question 17: Do we still need to build database views for some reports without table relationships, or can platform analytics now allow the selection of 2 or more tables and add a correlation between the 2 tables?
Live Question 18: Will UXA filters have a date added?
Live Question 19: Given a List Visualization: is it on the roadmap to be able to configure columns from a reference field derived table? Let’s say you have a reference field to Task and want to show the Caller ID of a referenced Incident in the list layout (e.g. Outage has a reference to Task, we want to display the column (Caller [Incident]). In Core UI Reports it was configurable.
Live Question 20: Can we do calculations in platform analytics? Scenario:
Table A has 7 columns.
Add calculation using column 2 and 3 data like function: (column 2 / column 3) * 100 as a 3rd column without extending the table columns.
Live Question 21: There have been asks by our users to be able to see Incident Performance analytics with a breakdown by configuration item. With millions of CIs, this seems that it might lead to major performance issues, but would there actually be performance issues?
Live Question 22: Any AI capabilities planned for PA?
Platform Analytics Academy - AI Data Explorer
Platform Analytics Academy - Platform Analytics: Analytics Generation
Live Question 23: What are the requirements to use AI Data Explorer? Do we need to be on Raptor DB Pro?
Live Question 24: I understand that Homepages are converted to Dashboards. During migration, are the Homepages that have already been converted to Dashboards migrated again? We’re also seeing a large number of layout configuration‑related logs on the migrated Homepages (now Dashboards). How can we address this issue? Is there a way to exclude Homepages from the migration process?
Live Question 25: Can Platform Analytics handle huge datasets, like syslog table or sys_history?
Live Question 26: Hi Team, will there be a requirement to upgrade to RaptorDB? If so, when?
