In ServiceNow, Discovery Maps are used to define the relationship between software models and the discovery data gathered from your environment. These maps help ServiceNow match discovered software installations to the appropriate software models for compliance and licensing purposes.
A report titled "Software Models with Deactivated Discovery Maps" typically identifies software models that have discovery maps disabled. This situation can occur for several reasons, such as:
- Deactivated maps: Maps may have been disabled intentionally to exclude specific software from discovery processes or due to outdated mappings.
- Configuration errors: Maps may have been mistakenly deactivated during setup or system updates.
- Deprecated software: The software model may no longer be relevant or supported, and its discovery map was deactivated as part of the cleanup.

Hi @priyankaA485120,
a discovery map includes the following details and is managed by the SAM content library
- predefined suites (suite components are created automatically)
- downgrade rights
- Links a PPN to a specific software model configuration (e.g., Publisher, Product, Version, Edition, Metric)
The report shows you which DMAP is no longer updated by the content DB because it has been deactivated and replaced by a newer one. It's recommended to check the DMAP field per software model about available DMAPs, as only active DMAPs will shown as choices.
Best, Dennis
