I am wanting to add a notification Widget to our end users default homepage so that when we have an outage of some sort they can get information on the specific issue we are experiencing and not have to put in an incident for the issue. I am hoping this will cut back on a huge influx of incidents when we have one of our applications go down.

Check out the News Ticker widget. Under the instances tab, create a new one and add the widget in your SP accordingly. In my case, i created a new table and mapped it here. You could map based on your request.
This is how it will be when you create new.
This is how it will reflect in the SP.
If you are in Kingston, there is a new feature called Announcements in Service Portal. Check out the below URL.

Hi,
Are you referring to the Service Portal homepage?
If so, there is already a current status widget that shows outages/degradation/planned maintenance,. etc. For example:
What I've also done is when they go to submit an incident, on the SP form, I added it again at the top of the page...so they see it again.
So overall we have it on our login page, SP homepage, and on the page where they'd submit an incident too.
Please consider marking my reply as Helpful and/or Accept Solution, if applicable. Thanks!

We are not on service portal yet, that is a project we will be handled later on this year. For now, I need to create some sort of notification for our Support landing for our end users.
